Sparkling in the winter

It's yet another snowy day in Grey County. Not sure where I'll put the stuff I need to shovel out - again - from the sidewalk.

The one good thing about winter is that it's curling season. And in February, it's our Women that Sparkle Bonspiel.

This was my team. Debbie - the skip and the one on the far right - supplied the sparkly head gear. Ingrid (far left) was our lead, Holly was our vice and I did the second duties. Lost both our games, but boy did we have fun.

Here's sister Sandy's team. Ingrid snuck in to the picture because she said she wanted to hang with a "winning" team. Little brat. She's actually one of the friendliest women in a whole bunch of great, sparkly women at the club.

The others are Sheila, Jan and of course Sandy.

We curled two rounds of four end games, and I gotta say, I was pretty pooped by the end of it.

My skip Debbie is a decorator's dream, and she made the centre pieces for the four tables. Beautiful, eh?

We sat down to those gorgeous tables and had a catered lunch with scrumptious sandwiches made by a local Markdale restaurant.

Oh, and my contribution was

these two-bite cupcakes. I'm not a big baker, but they turned out pretty well, even though the icing got a bit melty by the time they were served. All 16 were gone at the end of the day. So I must have done something right.

It's so great to be able to play and laugh and visit with lovely, sparkling ladies in the depths of winter. Very grateful to have the opportunity. Until next week.

Gratuitous cat photo is actually the mascot I picked up from the Sally Ann for our team. I give you Greta Glitter.
