Rachel, all grown up

It's a grey, snowy day in Grey County. Again. The snow is piled almost to the bottom of the birdfeeder, which granted, it's not on a very tall pole. Peter Rabbit appreciated the depth, because he had his breakfast from it this morning. Convenient for a hungry bunny.

Last weekend, we celebrated niece Rachel's 29th birthday. Can't believe it. I sound like the oldey farty auntie, but honestly the time has flown by.

When the girls were little, we made a point of having New Year's dinner together at local restaurants. We'd get dressed up, go out for a lovely meal, and tie the napkins on our heads as hanky hats.

Uncle Rob started the whole thing, and the girls looked forward to doing it every time we got together.

She's always been a looker and very photogenic. This was when they got their first dog Maya, back in the days when the Thorntons lived in Erin.

Now, she's all grown up with a job and a car and an apartment above her folks' garage. Oh, and a boyfriend named Zack and three, count em, three buckskin horses. She's definitely our horsey girl.

We're all very proud of her.

While we've outgrown hanky hats, her mother and I can't seem to break the habit of taking goofy photos when we're together.

Until next week.
